Pottery & clay modelling

Started at school with some surprisingly successful horses, then some slab pottery.

Recently I have started collaborating with other ceramic artists on joint works. While my mentor loves glazes and to paint beautiful Japanese blossom designs, I am working out how the paints work and just what to do with all the choices clay gives. Underglaze paints are not the same as glazes – so a new experiment. And I think I am a modeller – so time to get out the carving tools and work on leather-hard clay…

Always with pottery = the risk of a hidden air bubble blowing up the whole kiln run
